IFCOMA (Indian Footwear Components Manufacturers
Association) organized its 23rd Buyers-Sellers Meet
Cum Exhibition of Footwear components, accessories,
machineries and finished leather for footwear and leather
goods manufacturers at Kolkata on the 20th and 21st
May, 2006.
A press meet was held on 17th May 2006. It is estimated that
about 400 trade persons visited the fair.

The Opening Ceremony of the Buyers Sellers Meet Cum Exhibition
was held on the 20th May, 2006, in which Mr. P. R.
Aqeel Ahmed, President, Indian Shoe Federation &
Managing Director of Florence Shoe Co. Limited, Chennai, was
the Chief Guest, and Mr. Anup Kumar Chatterjee,
Chairman, Council for Leather Exports (Eastern Zone), Mr.
Siddhartha Roy Burman, Managing Director, M/s Khadim
India Ltd., Kolkata, and Mr. F. Ferraris,
Vice President (Product Development), Bata India Limited,
Kolkata were the Guests of Honour.

Mr. M. S. Almal, President, IFCOMA in his
welcome address informed the gathering of IFCOMA
activities with recent development in West Bengal
footwear industries. He informed that footwear industries
are in positive growth mood and are looking for major expansion
in the production capacity. He further requested the
footwear marketers to focus their sourcing largely
from & within the state to help in their growth.

Mr. Anup Kumar Chatterjee of CLE (Eastern
Region) mentioned that component industry being the back
bone of footwear & Leather goods industries, it was
essential that elaborate training programme be organized to
equip the manufacturers of footwear components adequately
to take up the challenge to meet the requirements of footwear
& leather goods industries.
