Awareness Workshop on "Export Procedures and Documentation" held on 6th Oct., 2007 at Chelmsford Club, New Delhi


The Council of Leather Export (CLE), in association with Indian Footwear Components Manufacturers' Association (IFCOMA) organized an Awareness Workshop on "Export / Import Procedure & Documentation on 6th October, 2007 in the Chelmsford Club, New Delhi. The 4 hour workshop was attended by more than 50 representatives from the Footwear component and Exports Segment.

After brief introduction by Mr. A. A. Khan, Regional Director (North), CLE. Mr. Anil Kumar Sondhi, Regional Chairman (NR), CLE gave the welcome address followed by address from Mr. B. D. Bhaiya, President, IFCOMA where the importance of such capsuled workshop was highlighted.

Prof. Saheb Singh who spent decades with IIFT, New Delhi, delivered his address on "Foreign Trade Policy" explaining the nuiances of Imports / Exports and how to get optimum leverage out of Government aided schemes and even the rising rupee.
Explaining the promotional measures, he put across the merrits of indulging in foreign trade and how to take help form Export Promotion Capital Goods Scheme (EPCG). He also touched upon merrits of EOU and SEZ units and how to enter the global trading hub by leveraging the warehousing rules and save on precious currency.

Prof. K. K. Jindal of IBM, New Delhi addressed on "Export Finance & letter of Credit" highlighting the benefits of Letter of Credit and impressing upon the important factors which are to be considered while negotiating the LC and how to derive benefit from them. The question & Answer session was well represented from the participants who came prepared with their querries on import and export procedures.

The workshop ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. Sudhir Rustagi, Convener, Footwear Component Panel, CLE and gave assurance to the participants for organizing more workshops to bring the benefits and importance of such procedural aspects
