An interactive session was held at IFCOMA Display Centre, Noida during the visit of senior officials of M/s DECATHLON, France at the FDDI Complex on 10th October, 2007.
Mr. Sebastien Dollet, Purchasing Group Manager and Mr. Oilvier Sanchez, Footwear Components & Process Manager along with their Delhi Production Manager Mr. Raghu Rao and Mr. Rajeev Singh, Production Leader Technical Shoe rresented the DECATHLON Group while many footwear manufacturers and the Component manufacturers attended the DECATHLON Presentation. After the presentation there was an interaction session which was then followed by visit to the components displayed at the center.
During the Presentation, it was brought out that DECATHLON is the 2nd largest sports retailer in the world. Incorporated in 1976, the company has 384 sports retail shops covering Europe, USA, China and Brazil with a turnover over 4.5 Billion Euros. The DECATHLON Group comprising 35000 products with 100 million customers also has 23 ware houses and 24000 containers, thus carrying out the logistics and guarantee better quality at lower price. |
The group has been associated with the Indian Products for last 18 years especially in South India with TVS Group in cycle segment and CISCO with soccer and golf balls.
M/S Decathalon is also sourcing saddlery items from Kanpur. Till now their main focus was in South of India, but now in view of a lot of expansion plans as far as sourcing from India is concerned, the company has put up an office in Gurgaon.
The purpose of their visit was to have insight into the footwear production in India for the sports shoes and semi-sports shoes and look at the quality of components. As such the availability of components along with its logistics was one of the important aspects of their visit to India. The display centre impressed the visitors very much and they spent considerable time looking at various components being produced by IFCOMA members.
