Conclusion
Sri Lanka Footwear and Leather Goods Industry is emerging as an important sector with expanding production base, although Sri lanka has the advantage of a disciplined and abundant work force it lacks the components, leather & latest Technology which India can provide.

India has strong bi-lateral trade relationship with Sri Lanka among member-countries of SAARC region, Indian components, Leather and accessories were found suitable for Colombo Industry in terms of price, quality, design etc.

Though Components & Accessories are being imported from China, (at little lower prices) the Colombo industry prefers to source from India due to geographical proximity and there are no language and trade / cultural barriers, hence Colombo would be an important export destination for Indian Components & Accessories.

India has modern technology and technical know-how specially in Leather & Leather Products manufacturing including Footwear Components.
In view of expansion of production capacities in Colombo, there are opportunities for Indian entrepreneurs to have commercial tie-ups with Colombo industry for mutual investment and joint ventures etc. specially for manufacturing Footwear Components & Accessories in Colombo. This would develop trade between two countries in the leather & leather products sector in terms of both value and volume for mutual benefit.
