IFCOMA & ISF organized the 3rd BSM cum Exhibition of Footwear Components & Accessories at Rani Meyammai hall, Chennai on 18th & 19th July 2008
The BSM was inaugurated by the chief Guest, Shri M.M. Hashim Sahib a doyen of the Industry from Chennai & Chairman of the KH group of industries. , other dignitaries present on the dais were Sri T. Rafeeq Ahmed Regional chairman CLE, Dr. K. Elangovan, Executive Director CLE, Sri P.R. Aqeel President ISF and Sri B.D. Bhaiya President IFCOMA. Mr M. Gandhi, MD CMP India was also invited as a special guest.
The Inaugural function started with welcoming the distinguished personalities with flower bouquets being presented to them by members of IFCOMA. The event was inaugurated by Lighting of the lamp by the honorable guests.
Sri Aqeel Ahmed in his welcome address praised the Component manufacturers for their continuous efforts in upgrading the quality and designs to international levels. He also informed the gathering that one of his units was entirely using Indian components and this unit was keeping the minimum inventory and the fastest turnaround time as compared to all his other units.
He urged the footwear manufacturers to follow this example and encourage the Indian component manufacturers to be able to produce higher volumes and become more competitive in the international markets. Mr Aqeel also praised IFCOMA for organizing the fMM&T show next year and announced the support of ISF to the event, he hoped that the show will truly make available all international components materials & technology to the Indian footwear manufacturers and make India the hub centre for footwear buyers from all over the world.
The Chief Guest Shri Hashim Sahib, Dr Elangovan and Shri T. Rafeeq Ahmed all praised the efforts of IFCOMA & ISF for organizing the event regularly in a very successful manner. Dr Elangovan stressed that the component manufacturers should sincerely try to have joint ventures with advanced countries to enable themselves to upgrade their quality and competitiveness thereby reducing the reliance on imports.

Sri Bhaiya while giving his vote of thanks, thanked Mr Aqeel and Dr. Elangovan for their support to IFCOMA and the fMM&T show and assured the gathering that the Indian footwear Component manufacturers, with the support of the footwear manufacturers, will in no way lag behind in product development, quality, deliveries and competitiveness. The footwear & component industry are an integral part of each other and have to grow together for the future of the industry in India.
Shri Gandhi in his brief presentation assured the gathering that he and his team will ensure that the fMM&T show becomes a must attend event in the international calendar of the footwear world.
The two day fair had 79 stalls with 66 component manufacturers taking part from all over India. The BSM attracted more than 500 trade visitors from Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh & Karnataka. Serious business was conducted during the show and the participants reported satisfaction in all respects. This year the awareness of the event was advertised by way of Press ads, direct mailers, e-mail campaigns, tele - callers and personal invitations, which proved to be very successful in bringing the maximum number of visitors.

ISF also hosted a dinner on 19th July and presented ISF Excellence Awards to component manufacturers for their products. The awards were presented by Sh. Rafeeque Ahmed, Chairman Farida Group, Chief guest on the occasion, to- M/S Classic Enterprises for Best New component design, for Best eco- friendly material to M/s Versatile enterprises, for Best New Technology to M/s Hyde Park, for best packaging for product to M/s Ganesh Cartons ,for the Best supplier of shoe components to M/s Enkay (India ) Rubber Co. and for Best new sunthetic/ non leather material to Zahanero India. A special commemoration award was also presented to Sh. B.D. Bhaiya for his efforts in making this endeavor a grand success by Sh Aqeel Ahmed.
Before the award presentations and dinner a fMM&T presentation was also made and many manufacturers showed keen interest in participating in the event.
After the event a joint meeting was held between the President ISF and IFCOMA MC members and it was decided to organize the event again next year in a bigger venue to accommodate more participants as many exhibitors had to be reluctantly refused, due to space constraint.
