Mr. Mukhtarul Amin, Chairman CLE was the Chief Guest along with Mr. T. Rafeeque Ahmed, Chairman, CLE (South), Dr. K. Elangovan, ED, CLE as the Guest of Honour. Welcoming the guests, Mr. Aqeel Ahmed, President, ISF, gave special thanks to IFCOMA President, Mr. B. D. Bhaiya for the suggestive idea on this joint effort and in its 2nd edition, it has received more than 35% growth.
He stated that the timing was right for the occasion as it is immediately after Garda and before IILF, citing the importance of Footwear Industry he said that in Japan, the producer is GOD, while in USA he is a king, but in India the customer is the ultimate.
Dr. Elangovan stated that in order to reach export target of
1.2 billion by 2010it is identified that to match the growth, Footwear Component Industry has to come forward and get developed.
He stated that tax exemptions and lowering of Excise duties have been welcomed, however the only way to control the cost is by increasing the production for which IDLS is available. He also appreciated the efforts of ISF in bringing IFCOMA for close interaction with the Footwear Manufacturers industry in South.
While delivering his key note address, the Chief Guest,
Mr. Mukhtarul Amin, Chairman,CLE stressed that Footwear Component Industry is the most important aspect identified in projecting the growth of 7 billion $ exports by 2010, where the Component's share was 4.5 billion $. The Indian Component Industry is not at top of component exposure and has also utilized minimum of IDLS funds
