In March 2002, IFCOMA participated for the first time in the leading Arab trade fair "SILA" held at Damascus (Syria) with a big presence and created awareness of the Indian footwear components and accessories to its footwear manufacturers. With a large stand and multiple product display, it was an eye opener for the footwear manufacturers of the Middle East and was well praised for the quality of products displayed and for their competitive prices too. |

The unique part of the show was its fair timings i.e. 4 pm to 10 pm so that everyone could attend the fair. The IFCOMA stand of 36 sq. mt. for display of footwear components was attended by 8 members, it's coordinator and 3 translators and had about 900 visitors and serious interest was evinced in metal fittings, leather, straps and mignons, rubber soles, welts, dies and punches, tacks and nails, shoe laces apart from large volumes of sheets for insoles, toe - counters, fabrics and leather board etc. |
IFCOMA members were thankful for the support they received from the Ministry of Commerce and the Indian High Commission at Damascus for providing required information of the trade.
