SIA is a centralized agency set up by Government of India in the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion in the Ministry of Industry to provide a single window for entrepreneurial assistance, investor facilitation, processing all applications which require Government approval, assisting entrepreneurs and investors in setting up projects which includes liaison with other organizations and State Governments and in monitoring the implementation of approvals. SIA publishes a monthly newsletter which contains exhaustive details of investment approvals for domestic and export-oriented Units. It also covers Sectoral and State-wise analysis and gives a list of approvals of the previous month. This Newsletter incorporates estimated production details of 252 key industries (excluding the small scale sector). The newsletter is available at SIA Statistics. SIA also publishes a Manual of Industrial Policy & Procedure. This is the basic policy document which gives broad details of India's policies on investment including foreign direct investment. It also covers a brief synopsis of sectoral policies. The present manual available at the SIA website is revised up to November, 1997.

SIA Newsletter is a monthly newsletter that covers consolidated data about foreign investment and technical collaboration approved by Government from 1991 onwards. It also contains Sector-wise and state wise analysis and the list of those foreign investment proposals which have been approved during the preceding month.
